Susan’s jewelry is truly one of a kind. Each piece has its own unique beauty that brings with it a special feeling when I wear it. I can sense the joyful energy that went into its creation which makes wearing each necklace a real “treasured connection”; and, oh how nice to receive all the compliments! I have found myself buying outfits to go with a necklace that I love versus buying one to go with an outfit in my closet – such fun!

"I like feeling perfectly dressed, because then I can focus on other things." * When I wear Treasured Connection jewelry, I always feel that my outfit and my over all look is more complete.
I often receive comments on the jewelry, too: "That's great, where'd you find that wonderful piece?"
*I think this is a take on a quote from Coco Chanel or Jackie O. or someone of that ... iconographic status.

I never wear necklaces. Figuring out which earrings to wear on a daily basis is as much mix-and-match as I can get my mind around.
Then I saw Susan's functional necklaces, the ones that hold glasses.
I've resisted wearing glasses as much as necklaces. I see just well enough to avoid putting them on, and taking them off. When I saw the one made of black onyx, with an understated silver leaf in the center, I knew I could wear a necklace--and no longer worry about where I put my glasses. If you're tired of boring eyeglass chains and like to wear necklaces, these are for you. And if you thought you'd never wear a necklace, you might just change your mind.

"Wow, what a lovely necklace, where did you get it?” Wherever I went last summer—parties, theatre, and walks in the city—people commented on my necklace. It literally turned heads everywhere. The constant flow of compliments really surprised me because the necklace was different from anything I’d bought before but the sheer beauty and artistry of Susan’s creations “forced” me to take a chance. I’m so glad I did.” |

Dear Susan,
In September 1978 the Khyber Pass welcomed me to Afghanistan for a week's visit and a life-long, long-distance, unrequited love for that often rough and sometimes radiant land. I brought home with me a string of multi-colored stones, heavy with memory but clumsy to wear. One day, I gave them to Susan and asked her to set them for me, releasing them to her with no clear expectation of what to expect in return. |
| Several months later, on a perfect Ontario spring morning when I popped over to our mutual friend's house to drop off and pick up some books. We had been sitting sunning ourselves in the courtyard for a few minutes, when suddenly Anna leapt up and said "Back in a minute!" She returned, looking very much a magus, carrying a velvet bejeweled box. |
In it were a necklace and bracelet of my Afghan stones brought dramatically to life after years of lying unsung on that rough string, murmuring tales of Afghan bazaars and the weathered, thick hands of hawkers down from the hills. Now each stone told a story of a cliff or valley, of incidental green oases in a land of dust, of blue skies mirrored in deep lakes and of orange moons hanging heavy over desert roads. The staggered links of silver sang of ancient kings and nomadic decoration, and of the clink of camel caravans bearing pungent essences in vials carried warm against the wearer's heart. They sang, "So this is what was meant to be!" |

I would like you to know how very much this discovery and recovery mean to me. Since 1978, Afghanistan has been a touchstone for me, a land of mystery and beauty, and since then, of great sadness. The stones have always kept a certain moment of its briefly peaceful past alive for me. May that country one day be set to peace again, just as you have set these stones in harmony.

Susan, thank you so much for creating the beautiful blue and silver necklace for my 81-year old aunt.
She is radiant when she wears it! She was having great difficulty wearing jewelry due to arthritis.
You added just the right features for her to easily place this lovely piece around her neck. Your gift
has brought so much joy to my aunt and to all of us who see the smile on her face as she receives
many, many compliments on its beauty.

"I'm generally not a jewelry kind of person, but Susan's jewelry just feels right on me. Whenever I wear something of hers, people ask where I got it. I'm delighted there's finally a website I can send them to."

Let's see - what can I say. "The special pieces you made for me make me feel like you know who I am." "I was transported into another lifetime with my beautiful necklace." "I love having people ask me where I got it, when I wear one of your beautiful one of a kind necklaces". "I love owning a creation of yours that no one else has." "Simply stunning." "Fabulous!" "Creations from the soul that touch the wearer." "Creations from the heart." "I can feel the love in it. Thanks."

Although she might say otherwise, my wife can be VERY picky when it comes to her choice of jewelry. But I have no concerns when I choose from Susan’s lines. The peals of delight when my wife opens the gift box and how frequently she wears what I have given her have made me a happy return customer.

| I feel very fortunate to have met Susan through a mutual friend who knew that she would enjoy looking through the many boxes of unusual beads I had inherited from my mother. Sitting on our guestroom floor with her one afternoon for five hours, I had my first introduction to Susan's creativity, curiosity, and humor. |
|
I know my mother would have enjoyed seeing us together studying so very carefully and appreciatively the contents of one box after another. My mother dressed with a strong sense of personal style but this is not something I inherited—I have never felt comfortable wearing her very bold necklaces. By creating special necklaces for me from beads found in my mother's collection, Susan has helped me begin to find my own style of dress and adornment and to make a treasured connection with my mother. I know she would have enjoyed Susan's creativity and friendship, and the pleasure Susan has found in her new pursuit.
